When I first had the idea for Titlegram in mid 2023, it was based on the stance that the online PDF experience needs a modern take, and there will be enough folks out there who would want this.
At that time, I have nothing visual in my mind (despite being a rather visual person) about how I want this modern PDF experience to really be.
The only thing we know is that it has to be clean, minimal, and exist solely in the background to support the PDF and its content. The first version of that design is actually very bare and embarrassing, but a few folks on the internet found us and somehow agreed with what we have.
After bearing this embarrassment for almost a year (since our beta launch in 2024), I am excited to share that we have just completed a full refresh of our PDF experience, which is built on our short domain title.is.
Beyond a new look, we have added some functional consideration:
On the right side of all title.is pages now feature an almost-invisible side bar that shows the zoom in and zoom out option.
In practical, this is our take of how a modern PDF experience should and could tolerate PDF of different layouts, be it portrait or landscape layout. If you are on the desktop, a zoom out (portrait, full height) view would let you easily see every page in full height. While a zoom in (landscape, full width) view works much better for PDF that have a landscape layout.
When you upload a PDF now, you can define if your PDF should be placed against a dark background or light background.
On the viewer front, your audience would see the PDF loaded based on the background you selected, however they would still have the option switch to a dark / light background.
This is in consideration on how PDFs could have different colors and we want the background to help the PDF stands out, without restricting the audience from still having some level of freedom.
We intend to keep the title.is experience clean and minimal, as we set out to do. However this doesn't mean we would stagnant - more updates would be rolled out subsequently to ensure the title.is PDF experience would continue to improve and support your PDF content.
